Gianni Cito, Management - Partner
Gianni Cito (Zurich, 1970) obtained his architecture degree from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London (1996). Prior to that, he completed his interior architecture studies at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, specializing in architectural design (1993), and trained as an architectural draughtsman in Switzerland. After working at several architectural firms in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Melbourne, and Zurich, he co-founded Blue Architects in 1999 with Ludo Grooteman and Thomas Hildebrand—an international firm with offices in Amsterdam and Zurich. In 2001, Blue Architects gained recognition by winning first prize in the Prix de Rome for Architecture, the most prestigious competition for young architects in the Netherlands.
In 2007, Blue Architects Amsterdam merged with Atelier Zeinstra van der Pol to form Dok Architecten, where Gianni Cito was a partner, director, and design architect until December 2011. Alongside his work as an architect, he has been and continues to be a visiting lecturer at various academies, including the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, the Academies of Architecture in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, and the Design Academy in Eindhoven. Since 2024, he has been a member of the Utrecht Commission for Environmental Quality.
