Luís Garcia
I work as an architect at Moke. I take on a variety of roles, which is exactly what I enjoy about working here. Most of my time is spent on international projects, ranging from hotels to fishing ports, though I also occasionally contribute to Dutch housing projects. Besides design work, I am responsible for maintaining our model-making equipment, such as the 3D printer and laser cutter — a way to stay close to my passion for model making.

One project that particularly stands out to me is the Cotonou Fishing Port. Its scale, location, and participatory design approach made it a highly dynamic project, offering the chance to directly collaborate with future users and refine the design to their needs.

In architecture, I am deeply interested in the relationship between people and design, ensuring that every project respects heritage and anticipates future needs.

Luís started his career in landscape architecture before moving to the Netherlands, where he completed a Master’s degree in Architecture at the Academy of Architecture (Academie van Bouwkunst) in Amsterdam. Since then, he has been working at Moke Architecten on a range of international and Dutch projects.
