CalandTwo
With Caland Two, Moke Architecten has now designed almost the entire western street frontage of Calandstraat in The Hague. The building connects to the Caland Tower, with the bamboo parking garage on the other side. It is a mixed-use building, featuring both social housing and private-sector residences.

Six-Meter-High Entrance Gate
On the Calandstraat side, the building has an urban and large-scale appearance. Towards the rear, it gradually lowers in height, revealing two green courtyards. At the centre of the building, a grand six-meter-high gate provides cyclists and pedestrians access from Calandstraat to the new neighbourhood beyond. This will be the site of the future community square, effectively making this side of the building its second front.
Ensemble
Caland Two forms an ensemble with the Caland Tower. Both buildings partially use the same bricks, and their façades feature a gradient from darker to lighter tones. The brickwork is applied in a unique way - the brick frames next to the windows showcase a tile-pattern masonry technique, where edge-laid bricks create a subtle relief through the hollow in their centres. Caland Two also incorporates horizontal concrete floor bands, while the steel balconies are suspended from the façade with tension rods.
Majestic entrance
Caland Two is a remarkable building featuring both social and private-sector housing. Its majestic entrance lends the structure a striking allure. To reduce noise levels from Calandstraat, we incorporate sound loggias. Solar panels are installed on the roof.
