Gallery New York

Movable walls, both rotatable and sliding, transform the interior of Gallery Kashya Hildebrand time and time again, adapting it to the requirements of each specific exhibition. This modern art gallery lies in the heart of Chelsea, the previously industrial - now trendy creative scene of Manhattan, surrounded by design agencies and fashion studios.

Gallery
The gallery is 400m² in size. All facilities, such as storage, a kitchenette, and an office are hidden behind the walls of the central gallery space, which is rectangular in shape and contains only a number of columns and the movable walls.

Rotational mechanism
The walls are hollow and obscure the columns from view. A steel bracket attached to the columns supports highly precise rotational mechanisms. These are connected to rails, enabling sliding movements. The swivelling wheels on the floor serve purely for guidance.

Configurations
The walls allow for a wide variety of configurations. Each time the gallery is different: for example, a multitude of separate rooms, one large space with freestanding walls, or a labyrinth of dead-end corners.

Timeless
The finish has a white, museum-like character. The solid walls exude timelessness. The lighting is entirely dedicated to the art: not trendy, but understated, giving the art the full attention and space it deserves.
