Limuru Tea Estate
Limuru Tea Estate is a masterplan for a 75-hectare area situated along Limuru Road, a 25-minute drive from Nairobi in Kenya. The landscape is defined by a large former tea plantation. Positioned at the highest point in a gently rolling landscape, it guarantees stunning views for nearly every future resident. The masterplan is driven by sustainable ambitions, including collective passive cooling, water recycling, and the use of renewable energy sources. The low density, orientation of the buildings, and natural shading provide an excellent foundation for sustainability.

Pockets
The urban development plan primarily introduces five pockets within the green landscape. Each pocket has its own unique identity, which expresses itself in the programme, the layout of the public area and the building types. The pockets fit into a gently rolling, green framework which can be developed and used independently. In the heart lies a commercial centre including shops, recreational facilities, a hotel, and a conference centre. Limuru Tea Estate is a collaboration between Cocoon Group Ltd (Tania Combos) and Moke Architecten.
