The NDSM site is a former Amsterdam dockyard with large shipyards. Testament to this are several monumental warehouses and docks. Amidst these characterful brick giants stands Noorddok.

Transformation
The area is undergoing a transformation from a shipyard to an urban live-work zone, where diversity, creativity, and vibrancy take centre stage. Noorddok is a residential tower featuring more than 300 apartments, divided over three buildings that share the infrastructure. While the appearance of the three buildings is diverse, they all share a robust aesthetic that complements the area. The diversity contributes to a vibrant streetscape and a characterful area. The lowest building is a brick volume of ten levels featuring a steel-framed upper section and a shared rooftop terrace. The building in the middle has a concrete façade with large openings and a loft-like appearance. In the centre of this building is a large cut-out opening into the inner courtyard. The tallest building is a brick tower of approximately 50 meters high featuring six-meter-high brick frames and a striking roof structure. Two pronounced overhangs create urban accents. The plinth is populated by small commercial units featuring entrances all around. The main structure is characterised by its rational layout, fitting a tunnel construction approach.
